Pan European
The Pan European Fund is Threadneedle's core pan-European equity fund offering. This actively managed portfolio of European companies aims to outperform its peer group as well as its benchmark index. With around 55 to 70 holdings, the fund provides a healthy degree of diversification whilst still allowing fund manager Ann Steele to invest with confidence and conviction. The portfolio is driven by Threadneedle's proven research and stock selection process and benefits from the research and support of our Pan-European equity team.
The active and flexible approach taken by the manager has enabled it to produce consistently good performance over the past five years, a period that has been characterised by differing investment conditions. For example, the fund has beaten the peer group median over 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 years (as at 31 March 2010). In particular, the fund's outperformance of the peer group median during the uncertain economic landscape of 2007, 2008 and 2009 shows how the fund successfully shifted from an adventurous positioning to a more defensive stance and then back to a more assertive outlook as the market began to recover.
The Pan European Fund has been awarded 1st place at the FD/Morningstar Awards 2010 in the category Equity/Europe. We strongly believe in European equities. After the rally in 2009 it now comes to picking the right stocks which will show a solid long-term performance.

- Ann Steele
Ann Steele joined Threadneedle in 2009 as a Senior Fund Manager in the European equity team.
Her main responsibilities are to develop Threadneedle's European Equity institutional offering and to spearhead the company's asset gathering efforts in this area.
Prior to joining Threadneedle, Ann worked at Pictet Asset Management, where she managed a number of institutional funds and oversaw significant growth in assets. She has also held senior investment positions at Gartmore and Henderson.
Ann has law and music degrees from the University of Glasgow.
